The eight MenuMasters categories are based on a range of research/development criteria, and are designed to address all segments of the industry. Some programs will skew toward quick service, others to casual dining. Submissions may be from both Commercial and Non-Commercial segments of the industry.

Criteria:
- Can encompass a full menu overhaul or a specific section of the menu
- Must demonstrate strong customer acceptance
- Revamp should contribute to a reposition or redefine of a restaurant concept
