The eight MenuMasters categories are based on a range of research/development criteria, and are designed to address all segments of the industry. Some programs will skew toward quick service, others to casual dining. Submissions may be from both Commercial and Non-Commercial segments of the industry.

Criteria:
- Minimum of 15 years commitment to the area of research and development
- Has made significant contribution to the industry
- Can be a consultant, operator or chef
- Should be recognized as an industry leader/luminary
